Short Video Session

run by the Youth and Media Committees

We are excited to announce the Short Video Session, an opportunity for surgeons to share their expertise, tips, and tricks with the EFAS community. This contest is open to videos showcasing both established and innovative surgical techniques in foot and ankle surgery.

The goal is to create a platform where colleagues can learn from each other, explore different approaches, and highlight technical excellence in surgical practice.

Submission Guidelines

  • Videos should demonstrate a specific surgical technique with clear educational value.
  • Both standard procedures and novel approaches are welcome.
  • Submissions must comply with ethical and legal standards, including patient consent where applicable.

Review Process

All submitted videos will be reviewed by members of the EFAS Youth and Media Committee, who will assess the content based on technical quality, clarity, educational value, and originality.

Visibility and Recognition

  • Selected videos will be added to the EFAS Surgical Video Library, accessible to all EFAS full members.
  • Videos may also be featured during the EFAS Congress in Vilnius.
  • The top 5 videos will be showcased in a dedicated Short Video Session at the congress.
  • The 3 best authors of these top 5 videos will receive a price from the foundation and the opportunity to present and discuss their video during the session.

Video characteristics

Included in video

  1. Title
  2. Authors + City of main affiliation
  3. Disclosures. (for all authors )
  4. Commercial Support.
    All videos must explicitly state whether commercial support was received.
  5. Indications/Contraindications
    The program describes the indications and contraindications for the technique and the shown case is illustrated.
  6. Preoperative and Postoperative Images.
    If possible clinical and radiological images.
  7. Outcomes.
    If follow-up duration allows it, outcome of the specific case.
    If available outcome of patient group.
  8. Maximum Length.
    The maximum length of a video is 5 minutes.
  9. Copyright.
    Permission for all copyrighted material (drawings, illustraons, music, video footage) must be obtained.
  1. Proprietary/Trade Names.
    Generic product names must be used rather than proprietary or trade names.
  2. Patient Privacy.
    Patient idenfiers information, including a patient’s face, distinguishing marks, tattoo’s, name, initials, date of birth, social security number, address, and medical record number, and any other unique identifying number, characteristic, or code must not appear in the video.
  3. Patient and Colleague Consent.
    Written consent must be obtained from each person appearing in the work.
  4. Include if available references from the literature supporting the concepts and techniques presented.
  5. Extra.
    The “off-label” use of any pharmaceuticals and/or medical devices must be specifically disclosed while shown in the video.

Technical Considerations

  1. Format.
    16:9 widescreen
  2. 4K
  3. Audio: clear sound without back noise or silent video with subtitles
  4. Summarize spoken instructions in subtitles.
  5. Length: maximum 5 minutes
